Bits and pieces that catch my eye!
The Serenity Prayer attributed to Reinhold Niebuhr with the lesser known second verse:
God, give me grace to accept with serenity
the things that cannot be changed,
Courage to change the things
which should be changed,
and the Wisdom to distinguish
the one from the other.
Living one day at a time,
Enjoying one moment at a time,
Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace,
Taking, as Jesus did,
This sinful world as it is,
Not as I would have it,
Trusting that You will make all things right,
If I surrender to Your will,
So that I may be reasonably happy in this life, And supremely happy with You forever in the next. Amen.
The Economist has a thought-provoking article in an issue called Planet of the Phones about the ubiquitousness of smart phones. They predict that 80% of the world will soon be carrying a mini-computer in the pocket and ponder of its effects. Having been there at the birth of the computer age, I am just fascinated by how we've moved from massive 400k mainframes to minute 4G 'phones in a generation.
